Meteorological Service Singapore V3 Portal
A design project commissioned by Metrological Service Singapore to design and launch their V3 Portal Project.
Project details: 3 months, 3 iterations of mobile and desktop.
Challenges
Develop an interactive platform to provide Singapore-specific climate projections, aiding policymakers, researchers, and the public in understanding and preparing for climate change impacts.
User Goals
• Access to data: Present complex climate data in an accessible, user-friendly format.
• Inform & Educate: To learn more about Singapore’s climate and how climate change affects the region.
User Task
• Explore Climate Projections: Users can navigate through interactive maps and charts to explore various climate scenarios specific to Singapore, such as temperature and rainfall changes over time.
• Download Data: Users may download climate projection data sets for in-depth analysis or use in reports and presentations.
• Access Educational Resources: Users might seek to learn more about climate change and its impacts through the website’s educational materials.
Constraints Faced
• MSS did not have any prior website to build off and no prior data. We were also on a time crunch to launch it before a major event.
• MSS did not have any design system, hence we had to build one.
• To ensure that the website adhered to WCAG AA requirements, we would have to consider different aspects while designing. From colors to font family and features that would help improve accessibility.
